Treatment

  1. If allergic conjunctivitis use diphenhydramine
  2. Rx Chlamydia with PO erythromycin
  3. If herpes, consult opthalmologist (1% trifluridine drops or 5% vidarqabine ointment)
  4. Sulfacetamide (if not allergic or G6PD) or gentamicin ointment if >1 mo for 2 days beyond clearing
  5. Allergic conjunctivitis:

Disposition

  1. Admit GC or periorbital/orbital cellulitis (IV Abx)
  2. Follow up within 2-3 d to check for failure to respond to Rx
  3. Parental education
